Follow these steps (current step)
- Press the left, right and middle buttons and both side buttons.
- Scroll the wheel up and down.
- Click the left button several times to check for double clicks.
- Move the mouse quickly in circles to measure the polling rate.
Use the test area
Please move the pointer into this area

Check the results
After you use the test area, the results appear here.
How to use
- Move the pointer into the test area in step 2.
- Press the left, right and middle (wheel) buttons and both side buttons. Each part lights up on the mouse picture.
- Scroll the wheel up and down. If the wheel tilts, tilt it left and right as well.
- Click the left button several times to see the shortest interval in step 3. Move the mouse quickly in circles inside the test area to see the polling rate.
Common questions
- Why does one click count as a double click?
- Usually a worn switch inside the button sends two signals for one press. This page marks two presses less than 40 milliseconds apart as a possible double click, because a finger cannot usually press that fast.
- What is the polling rate?
- The polling rate is how many times per second the mouse reports its position. 125 Hz, 500 Hz and 1000 Hz are common. This page estimates it from the position updates the browser receives, so the result may be lower than the rated value.
- What if the side buttons do not respond?
- On some mice, the side buttons must be set to Back and Forward in the mouse software. If they are set to another function, the browser receives that function instead and this page cannot detect the side buttons.
- Can this page test mouse DPI?
- No. DPI is the number of counts the mouse reports for one inch of movement. The system pointer speed has already changed the movement the browser receives, so DPI cannot be calculated from it.
Buttons that cannot be tested, and other checks
This page reports the mouse signals that the browser receives. Please keep the pointer inside the test area.
Buttons and wheel
- Side buttons
- On some mice, the side buttons must be set to Back and Forward in the mouse software. If they are set to a keyboard shortcut or another function, the browser receives that instead, and this page cannot detect the side buttons.
- Going back a page
- Pressing a side button inside the test area does not leave this page. Outside the test area, the side buttons make the browser go back or forward.
- Wheel
- Two-finger scrolling on a touchpad is also recorded as the wheel. Left and right scrolling comes from a tilting wheel or a touchpad.
- Wireless mouse
- Please check the battery, and reconnect the wireless receiver or the Bluetooth connection.
Double clicks and polling rate
- Possible double click
- When the same button is pressed twice less than 40 milliseconds apart, this page marks it as a possible double click. A finger cannot usually press that fast, so a worn switch is the likely cause. A single click may then register as a double click.
- Polling rate
- The polling rate is how many times per second the mouse reports its position. Please move the mouse quickly in circles inside the test area. This page shows the highest rate measured, which may be lower than the rated value.
- Browser limits
- Browsers that do not support coalesced pointer events, such as some versions of Safari, can measure only up to the screen refresh rate. Please use Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
