How to use

  1. Please paste the earlier version in “Original” and the later version in “Changed”. The result updates as you type.
  2. Word by word: suitable for checking changes to letters, essays and contracts. Line by line: a line is treated as unchanged only if the whole line is identical. This suits lists, code and settings.
  3. Removed text appears in the original but not in the changed text, and is struck through. Added text appears only in the changed text, and is underlined.

Comparison uses jsdiff (BSD-3-Clause licence). Chinese words are split by the browser’s built-in Intl.Segmenter. Your text is not uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a small change show as a whole line removed and added?
In line-by-line mode, a line counts as different if any character in it is different. Please choose word by word to mark only the changed words.
Is my text saved?
No. The comparison is done in your browser. The text is cleared when you close or reload the page.
