How to use
- Code 128: letters, numbers and common symbols. It is suitable for internal reference numbers, shipment tracking numbers and asset labels. Code 39: capital letters, numbers, spaces and - . $ / + %. It is common on older equipment.
- EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC-A: retail product barcodes with digits only. The last digit is a check digit. If you leave it out, it is added automatically. If you enter it, it is verified, and the correct digit is shown if it does not match. ITF-14: 14-digit codes for cartons of products.
- EAN and UPC numbers for retail products must be obtained from your local GS1 member organisation and must not be made up. This tool only creates the barcode image for a number you already have.
- For printing, please keep the narrowest bar at 2 pixels or more and leave blank space on both sides. Please test the printed barcode with a scanner.
Barcodes are created in your browser with JsBarcode (MIT licence). Your content is not uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I use this EAN-13 barcode on products sold in shops?
- The pattern follows the standard, but the number must be obtained from a GS1 member organisation. A number you make up may belong to someone else, and retailers will not accept it.
- Why can a barcode not be created from my content?
- Each type accepts different characters and lengths. For example, EAN-13 accepts 12 or 13 digits only. Please follow the note under the input box, or choose Code 128.
