Days are counted on the Gregorian calendar. February has 28 days, or 29 days in a leap year. A year is a leap year if it can be divided by 4 but not by 100, or if it can be divided by 400.
Days between the dates = end date − start date, so the start date itself is not counted. If both dates are counted, 1 day is added.
In years, months and days, full months are counted first. If a month does not have the same day, the last day of that month is used; for example, one month after 31 January is 28 February. Full months are then shown as years and months, and the rest as days.
Monday to Friday excludes only Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not deducted.
When adding or subtracting days, 1 day after a date is the next day, and 1 day before a date is the previous day.
