Video to GIF converter

Take a clip of up to 30 seconds from a video and make a GIF 320, 480 or 640 pixels wide at 10 to 20 frames per second, entirely in your browser.

Choose the GIF settings (current step)

Width
Frame rate

A larger width and frame rate give a sharper, smoother GIF and a larger file. A video narrower than the chosen width keeps its own width and is not enlarged.

Upload a video and select a clip

or drag and drop files here

Reads MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and other videos. The file must not be more than 4 GB.

Make and download

After you upload a video and select a clip, the GIF can be made here.

How to use

  1. In step 1, choose the width and frame rate.
  2. In step 2, upload a video. Play to the start of the clip and select “Set as start”, then play to its end and select “Set as end”.
  3. In step 3, select “Make GIF”, check the preview and download it.

Notes

  • Each GIF frame can hold at most 256 colours, so smooth colour gradients show visible bands. The larger the width and frame rate, the larger the file.
  • A GIF contains no sound. A video narrower than the chosen width keeps its own width and is not enlarged.
  • The longer the clip and the more the picture changes, the larger the file. The actual size is shown once the GIF is made.

Questions and answers

What should I do if the GIF is too large?
Please shorten the clip, or choose a smaller width or a lower frame rate, and make the GIF again.
Can I use only a section from the middle of the video?
Yes. Play to the start of the section and select “Set as start”, then play to its end and select “Set as end”. You can also enter the times directly.
