  • Take the photograph close up from the top of the head to the top of the shoulders, with the face covering 70% to 80%. The background must be white, with even lighting, no shadows and no red-eye.
  • Save the file as a JPG. Do not just change the file extension.
  • The resolution must not exceed 300 dpi.
  • For foreign and overseas Chinese students applying online, the photograph must be a 2-inch half-length photograph without a hat, taken within the last two years (the same as the ID card photograph).

What size is an ARC photo in Taiwan?
For the online system: a JPG file larger than 4 KB and smaller than 512 KB, at least 531 × 413 pixels (height × width), not more than 300 dpi, with a white background. The printed photograph is 2 inches (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm), the same as the ID card photograph.
