  • The photograph must show your full frontal face with clear facial features. The size from chin to crown must be 32 mm to 36 mm, with sufficient headroom.
  • Do not wear head dress. Avoid heavy make-up and overly dark or overly light-coloured clothing.
  • You must be centred. Glasses or hair must not cover the eyes or eyebrows, and there must be no flash reflection, shadow, or overly light or dark areas.
  • A scanned photograph (600 dpi) must be 40 mm (W) × 50 mm (H).

These digital photograph requirements apply only to passport applications made online or through the Immigration Department mobile app. Applications by post or drop-in need a printed photograph of 40 mm × 50 mm. The Document of Identity for Visa Purposes uses the same photograph requirements, submitted on paper. A successful upload does not mean that the photograph meets the requirements; the Immigration Department may ask for another photograph.
